In light of the ongoing work to address structural inequities within academia and specifically within the department, a team at UNC-CH has crafted and piloted a survey that faculty can use to assess the interpersonal climate within their research labs. The team’s goal in sharing this survey is to provide a tool for PIs to routinely assess the culture within their labs in order to best support their trainees and employees. The hope is that faculty will use this tool to proactively identify areas of concern related to diversity, equity, and inclusion among their lab members and to facilitate discussions around improving any issues identified.
