SEI is proud to support curriculum innovation efforts at UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine through a recent collaboration focused on first-year curriculum redesign.
Working closely with School of Medicine leadership, SEI designed and facilitated a series of faculty-centered data collection activities aimed at gathering actionable feedback to inform future program improvements. The engagement brought together 16 faculty participants in a highly interactive, station-based process that encouraged reflection, discussion, and collaborative problem-solving around key aspects of the student learning experience.
The activities were intentionally designed to complement prior trainee-centered feedback efforts, allowing the School of Medicine to better understand areas of alignment and divergence between faculty and learner perspectives. By integrating insights from multiple stakeholder groups, the project advances a more comprehensive and evidence-based approach to curriculum redesign.
SEI’s role included the development of facilitation strategies, activity design, data collection protocols, and synthesis approaches that enabled faculty voices to be captured in a structured yet collaborative environment. The resulting insights will help inform ongoing planning and decision-making related to the evolution of the first-year medical curriculum.
This collaboration reflects SEI’s growing work in higher education strategy, facilitation, and evidence-based program improvement, particularly in complex academic and training environments where stakeholder engagement is critical to long-term success.
